Donnie Lee Dockery – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Donnie Lee Dockery, 66, Ft. Blackmore, VA entered into rest on Thursday,
November 13, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Dockery was born in Scott County, VA on September 8, 1948 to the late Brownie Logan and Mattie Hensley Dockery. He was employed by Elkins Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, his brother Conley “Emmitt” Dockery preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughter, Lynn Morrison and husband, Bill, Ft. Blackmore, VA; son, Robbie Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Jo Mann and Brayden Dockery; sisters, Coleen Kinkead, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Kate Gibson, Gate City, VA, Verdie Lawson and husband, Henry, Gate City, VA, Valice Perry, Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Connie Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brothers, James Dockery, Gate City, VA, Howard Dockery, Gate City, VA, Ronnie Dockery, Gate City, VA, Larry Dockery and wife, Margaret, Nickelsville, VA, Dave Dockery, Gate City, VA, and B.L. Dockery, Jr., Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Daryl Hurd and Rev. Roger Herron officiating. The Alley Valley Choir and Toke Hensley will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Cowden Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Gale Gibson, Michael Dockery, Brandon Powers, Michael Salyer, Tim Gibson, and Brian Dockery will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
