Sandra Kay Dishner, 60, Duffield, VA, our precious sister, passed away April 28, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Sandra was born on February 10, 1951, and was the twelfth child of Will and Donnie Dishner of Duffield, VA. She was a Christian and loved her Lord. Sandra seldom met a stranger and had a special love for all. She was an avid Jeff Gordon fan.
In addition to her parents, Will and Donnie Dishner, she was preceded in death by her brother Glen Dishner; and sisters, Mary Lou Dishner, Nila Fayne Dishner, and Hazel Dishner Burlew.
Sandra is survived by brothers, Carl Dishner, Kokomo, IN, Douglas Dishner and wife, Jeannie, Kokomo, IN, and Micheal Dishner, Jackson, MI; sisters, Rena DeBaker and husband, Gene, Kingsport, TN, Jennie Chatari and husband, Ralph, Mooresville, NC, Norma Bear and husband, Wayne, Leslie, MI, Cennea Tipton, Clinchport, VA, and Janet Hill and husband, David, Gate City, VA; special niece, Kim Tipton; special friend, Susan Church; along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Tignor officiating. Music will be provided by the Garry Hood Singers.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Her nephews and brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
