Irene Owens Dingus, 78, Rye Cove, VA joined the Heavenly Choir on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Sandra.
She was born August 2, 1935 to the late Charlie and Lula Baldwin Owens.
She was a homemaker and a wonderful Mamaw to all who knew her. She was a very kind and loving woman and loved the Lord, her church, family and pastor with all her heart.
She was a good Christian woman and faithful member of Pendleton’s FWB Church and sang with the True Faith Quartet in many churches in the surrounding area for many years.
In addition to her parents, her loving husband, Pat; sister, Mary Lee Dunn and two infant sisters; brother, Erful (PeeWee) Owens; and great grandson, James Hall preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Sandra Lane, Rye Cove, VA, Dwain and Debbie Dingus, Rye Cove, VA, Larry and Teresa Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Tony and Wanda Dingus, Kingsport, TN, David and Tiny Dockery, Rye Cove, VA, and Rhonda Faulkner, Kingsport, TN; precious grandchildren, Gwenda and Tom Hall, Shannon McClellan and Nikki, Joshua Dingus, Elizabeth Dingus, Reggie and Rebecca Lane, Jennifer and Jacob Beaver, Aaron Dingus, Cody Dockery, and Bridget Dockery; precious great grandchildren, Courtney Smith, Kara Smith, Matthew Lane, Micah Lane, Beth Beaver, and Lucas McClellan; sisters, Kate and R.B. Lane, Weber City, VA, Clyde and Carl Gillenwater, Gate City , VA, Blanche and Jay Gillenwater, Gate City, VA, Juanita Bledsoe, Rye Cove, VA, Ruby Hass, Hilton, VA, Nina Cox, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Paul and Ina Faye Owens, Church Hill, TN; sisters-in-law, Sally Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Geraldine Dingus, Ft. Blackmore, VA; special nieces, Brenda Bowman, Linda Dingus, and Janice Osborne; loving friends, Roxie Ashworth, Jewell Daugherty, Bobbie Sanders, and so many others; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Pendleton’s Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the sanctuary of the church with Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating. Pendleton’s Chapel Church Choir will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the McNew Cemetery, Stanleytown, VA. Joshua Dingus, Aaron Dingus, Cody Dockery, Rodney Lane, Harold Laney, Richard Sanders, Reggie Lane, and Russell Noles will serve as pallbearers. Larry Lane, Jacob Beaver, David Dockery, Tom Hall, Will Chapman, Shannon McClellan, and members of Pendleton’s Chapel Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to Will Chapman who was so very kind and helpful to Mom.
