Robert Lowell Dingus, 70, Nickelsville, VA passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Dingus was born in Scott County, VA on March 31, 1944 to the late William Robert and Pearl Salyer Dingus.
Lowell worked diligently for 35 years as a paper carrier for the Kingsport Times News.
In addition to his parents, his infant son, Robert Anthony Dingus preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Chris Dingus and wife, Cat-Thee, Gray, TN and Jeff Dingus, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Tanner, Jayden, and Catelin Dingus; sisters, Wanda Marshall, Nickelsville, VA and Wilma Vicars, Glade Springs, VA; brother, Dairl Dingus, Dungannon, VA; along with several nieces and nephews and special family friend, Tommy Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Ida Finch. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Grizzle officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Hillman-Vicars-Dingus Cemetery, McConnell Hollow, Nickelsville,VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Bill Burton, Bobby Joe Finch, William “Tootie” Finch, Teddy Kilgore will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
