Pat W. Dingus, 82 of Rye Cove, VA joined that heavenly choir Monday, March 7, 2011 at Indian Path Hospital.

He was born on February 15, 1929 to the late Rod and Maudie Hall Dingus. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, George, and Fred; sisters, Edna Vicars, Nannie Knowles, and Belvia Honeycutt; and great grandchild, James Hall.
Pat retired from AFG after 32 years. He was a wonderful Christian man and a faithful member of Pendletons FWB Church. He sang with the True Faith Quartet in many churches in the surrounding area for many years. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a very kind and loving man and loved the Lord, his family, church, his pastor and neighbors, and friends dearly. He never knew a stranger.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Irene Owens Dingus;
Children, Sandra Lane, Rye Cove, VA, Dwain and Debbie Dingus, Rye Cove, VA, Teresa and Larry Lane, Fort Blackmore, VA, Tony and Wanda Dingus, Kingsport, TN, David and Tiny Dockery, Rye Cove, VA, and Rhonda Faulkner , Kingsport, TN;

Precious grandchildren, Gwenda and Tom Hall, Shannon McClellan and Nikki, Joshua Dingus, Elizabeth Dingus, Reggie and Rebecca Lane, Jennifer and Jacob Beaver, Aaron Dingus, Cody Dockery, and Bridgett and Jason Jones;

Precious great grandchildren, Courtney Smith, Kara Smith, Matthew Lane, Micah Lane, Beth Beaver, and Lucas McClellan (due in May);
Sisters, Sally and Claude Lane, Jean Frazier, Fort Blackmore, VA;
Special Nieces, Linda Dingus and Brenda Bowman;

Sisters and Brothers in Law, Geraldine Dingus, Paul Dunn, Kate and RB Lane, Blanche and Jay Gillenwater, Nina Cox, Juanita Bledsoe, Paul and Ina Owens, Ruby and Eddie Hass, and Clyde and Carl Gillenwater;

Loving friends, Roy Ashworth, Stan Presley, Doug Presley, Russell Sanders, Charles Puckett, Jerry Dorton, Cecil Austin, BJ Johnson, and so many more.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Pendletons FWB Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Church with Pastor Kevin Sanders, Evangelist Garry Hood, and Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir with a solo by Otis Lawson.

Graveside services will follow at McNew Cemetery, Stanley Town, VA. Jacob Beaver, Bennie Beaver, Bob Osborne, William Johnson, William Bowen, Tom Hall, David Dockery, Russell Knowles, Richard Sanders, and Lex Johnson will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of Pendletons Church, his brothers in law, and Joshua Dockery, Ray Dockery, and Larry Dickenson. The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pendleton Church Youth Group.
