Emmitt Bradley (E.B.) Dingus, 74, Gate City, VA departed this life on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Brian Center Nursing Facility in Weber City, VA.
Emmitt was born on March 16, 1936 to the late Bent and Rissie Casteel Dingus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Dingus, a sister, Hazel Ashworth, a brother, Ray Dingus, and a niece Kristie Gross.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended Pendleton's Church.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Geneva and Clyde Hall, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Sue and Bill Wallen, Duffield, VA, and Norma Sturgill, Gate City, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Audley and Mable Dingus, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Eugene and Beulah Dingus, Kingsport, TN, and Paul and Lou Dingus, Dungannon, VA; a sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Dingus, Roanoke, VA; an uncle, Lonnie Casteel, Duffield, VA; two nieces and four nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister, Norma Sturgill. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Sanders, Dr. Larry Nelson, and the Rev. Clifford Pierson officiating. Pendleton's Church Singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Kenny Dingus, Mack Pierson, Jordan Price, Douglas Presley, Danny Pierson, Franklin Casteel will serve as pallbearers. Stanford Presley, Phillip Dingus, Delmar Ashworth, Malcum Hill, Sherile Ashworth, Jerry Hall, and Bobby Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to extend their special thanks to the staff of the Brian Center Nursing Facility and to the staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for their love and care of E.B.
