Mr. Audley Clifford Dingus, 84, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Dingus was born in Scott County, VA on April 18, 1927, the son of the late Bent and Rissie Casteel Dingus. He became a store keeper for 20 years, after the death of his father, but was a lifelong farmer by choice, and was of the Baptist faith attending Pendleton's Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, his brothers, E. B. Dingus and Ray "Monk" Dingus; sister, Hazel Ashworth; brothers-in-law, Howard Ashworth, Clyde Hall, and Jack Sturgill; sisters-in-law, Sue Dingus and Beulah Dingus; niece, Kristie Grose; and nephew, Delmar Ashworth preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Mable Lane Dingus, his wife of 53 years and who he said was the only woman for him, Ft. Blackmore, VA, sisters, Geneva Hall, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Sue Wallen and husband, Bill, Clinchport, VA, and Norma Sturgill, Gate City, VA; brothers, Eugene Dingus, Kingsport, TN and Paul Dingus and wife, Lou, Dungannon, VA; uncle, Lonnie Casteel; sister-in-law, Mary Dingus, Roanoke, VA; and several nieces and nephews; along with many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Pendleton's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 with the Rev. Joe Roberts and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Pendleton's Chapel Church Singers will provide the music.

The burial will follow the service at the Pierson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Don Lane, Larry Lane, Keith Gibson, Tony Begley, Jacob Beavers, Danny Paul Dingus, and Travis Salyers will serve as pallbearers. Russell Sanders, Benny Beavers, Mack Pierson, and Kenny Dingus will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Tony Begley, their neighbor and friend for 18 years for his love and support of Audley.
