Inez Dean – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Inez Carter Dean, 83, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Friday, February 13, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Dean was born in Scott County, VA on March 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Emmitt Patrick and Mauda Marie Lawson Carter.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 67 years, Rev. Robert Lee (R.L.) Dean; grandson, Nathan Nesessary; sister, Ann Wheatley; and brothers, Eugene Carter, Roy Carter, and Claude Carter preceded her in death.
She was a loving mother and mother figure to so many children.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Tipton and husband, Michael, Weber City, VA, Donna Rose and husband, Doug, of the home, Melissa Tipton and husband, Jeff, Manville community of Gate City, VA, and Becky Gibson and husband, James, Greeneville, TN; grandsons, Ritchie, Petie, Jamie, and Mark; granddaughters, LaNez, Jesse, Morgan, and Kelsey; great grandson, Christian; great granddaughters, Whitney, Kirsten, Jordyn, Katherine, Sophia, and Kali; great-great grandson, Bentley; great-great granddaughter, Kylee; step great grandchildren, Brittany, Payton, Madison, Malaki, Maedyn, Jacob, Ashley, Jericka, Nathaniel, Kelli, and Lexi; sister. Evelyn Brickey and husband, Jimbo, Gate City, VA; brothers, Glen Carter and wife, Matilda, Ft. Blackmore, VA and J. Fred Carter, Kingsport, TN; very special friend, Carol Hill, Ft. Blackmore, VA; along several nieces, nephews, friends and family members.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Otto Gibson officiating. Toke Hensley will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Dean Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Michael Tipton, Jeff Tipton, Doug Rose, Jamie McDavid, Eddie Dean, Ritchie Starnes, and Dan Starnes will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 Noon to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be may be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to Dr. Gary Michaels, Home Nursing Hospice, and to the Indian Path Medical Staff for their love and care of Mrs. Dean.
