Etta Mae Dean – Gate City, VA
Etta Mae Summey Dean, 73, Gate City, VA was called home to be with her heavenly father after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Dean was born in Scott County, VA on November 15, 1941 to the late John Mann and Grace Summey.
In addition to her parents, her sister Peggy Dean preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Charles Robert (Shag) Dean, Weber City, VA; daughter, Lisa Vail and husband Mike, Charlotte NC; sons, Terry Dean and wife Rose , Charlotte, NC, Randy Dean and wife Wi An, Tucson, AZ; sisters, Nina Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Carolyn Darnell and husband Tommy, Nickelsville, VA, Wilma Dean and husband Ronnie, Nickelsville, VA; brothers Jimmy Summey, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Donnie Summey, Gate City, VA, Tommy Summey and wife Debbie, Blountville, TN, Johnny Summey and wife Shelby, Church Hill, TN; grandchildren, Logan Tucker, and fiance Britney, Corey and wife Alicia, Natasha, Andrew, Elyott and Kendra Dean; great-granddaughter, Zadie Mann. Mrs. Dean has numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2015 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Craig Needham of Mount Carmel United Methodist officiating. Dale Smith will provide the music.
Graveside services will be immediately following the service on Sunday August 16, 2015 and will be conducted at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
