Douglas Wayne Dean, 67, Kingsport, TN, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
Mr. Dean was born in Scott County, VA on November 18, 1946 to the late Elmer Vernon and Nannie Kate Dean.
He is survived by daughters, Judy Rhoton and husband, Kip, Mt. Carmel, TN, Julie Million and husband, Kenny, Kingsport, TN, Amanda Dean and Grayson Presnell, Kingsport, TN; brothers, James Junior Dean and wife, Sherry, Nickelsville, VA, Charlie William Dean and Friend, Nickelsville, VA, Doyle Dean and wife, Judy, Nickelsville, VA, Ronnie Dean and wife, Wilma, Nickelsville, VA; sisters, Mary Helen Sluss and husband, Mack, Nickelsville, VA, Christine Saul, Nickelsville, VA and Lucille McMurray and Gary, Hiltons, VA; grandchildren, Chassity Franklin, Thomas Dalton, Brooke Franklin, Abby Presnell and Belle Presnell; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Corn and Avery Dalton; along with several nieces and nephews.
The Dean family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Guy Elam officiating. Steve and Flo Minton will provide the music.
Military Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Holston view Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the by the American Legion Post #3 and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Sidney Dean, David Dean, Kenneth Sluss, Roger Sluss, Tony Dean, Clifford Dean, Kevin Dean, Freddie Saul and Ricky Lee McMurray will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside.
