Charlie Boyd Dean – Gate City, VA
Charlie Boyd Dean, 79, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his residence.
Charlie was born in Scott County, VA on May 24, 1937 to the late Clifton and Hattie (Stapleton) Dean.
He was retired from Quebecor Printing, Kingsport, TN after 37 years of service.
His survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Pierson) Dean, Gate City, VA; brother-in-law, Hugheen “Jack” Dean, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
In addition to his parents, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby J. Dean, Mattie and Charlie Stapleton, Emma and Jimmy Meade, and Sue Dean; and brothers and sisters-in-law, C.V. Dean, E.V. and Kate Dean, Scott and Ruby Dean, and J.B. and Lola Dean preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G. W. White and Pastor Vernon McDavid officiating. A eulogy will be given by Ricky Dean. Durham’s Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Danny Pierson, Jackie Pierson, Bobby Dean, Ronnie Dean, Doyle Dean, and Gary Dean will serve as pallbearers. His nephews, Larry, Lawrence, Darness, Charlie, and Junior will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service.
Barbara and family would like to give thanks to “My Lord” and those who prayed for and with us; also to Dr. Ick and his nurse, Wellmont Oncology and staff, Indian Path Medical Center and staff; Dr. Herman; his Hospice nurse, Lizza; and Dr. Steve Adkins and nurse, Susie.
