Two Hearts-Two Souls-One Love
Wayne Davidson, 71, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 2, 2014 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Wayne was born in Scott County, VA on March 13, 1943, son of the late Tyler and Mary Belle Davidson.
He was a lifelong resident of the Yuma Community where he was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
Wayne worked at The Eastman for 33 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a proud participant of Scott County Relay for Life and a member of Family United for a Cure. He worked endless hours to help raise money to find a cure.
He was a member of Catron’s Chapel Baptist Church and loved serving his Lord and Savior in any way he could.
He was lifelong member of the Clinch Mountain Coon Club where he served as President and Treasurer.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Tyler Davidson, Jr.; father-in-law, Sam McGee; and brother-in-law, Shorty Haynes preceded him in death.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 37 years, Joyce McGee Davidson, Yuma, VA; daughter, Kim Davidson Wilson and husband, Steve, Kingsport, TN; bonus daughter, Brenda McGee Estep and husband, John, Yuma, VA; bonus son, Jeff Fields and wife, LaCosta, Yuma, VA; two precious granddaughters, Emilyn Wilson and Hadley Wilson, Kingsport, TN; bonus grandson, Caden Fields, Yuma, VA; sisters, Claudia Haynes, Yuma, VA and Kathleen Bland and husband, Gene, Church Hill, TN; mother-in-law, Hazel McGee Darnell and husband, Walker, Kingsport, TN; sisters-in-law, Dot Davidson, Yuma, VA and Emogene Quillen and husband, H.E., Yuma, VA; brothers-in-law, Sam McGee and wife, Pat, Kingsport, TN, Mack McGee and wife, Cora, Gate City, VA, Henry McGee and wife, Susan, Glen McGee, Bobby McGee, and Charles McGee and wife, Trish, all of Gate City, VA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Larry Tolley officiating. Dale Smith and Grace Stidham will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA following the service. Tom Fields, Hagan Hartgrove, Ben Tittsworth, Warren Fansler, David Wininger, and Mark Lowe will serve as pallbearers. Past and present members of the Clinch Mountain Coon Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Edwin McElroy, his nurse Joyce and Wendy Vogel, FNP and all the nurses of Kingsport Hemotology and Oncology, and Melissa Shoria with Hospice for all their special care and love shown us during Wayne’s sickness.
