Charlie Davidson – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Charlie James Davidson, 80, Alley Valley community of Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Charlie was born in Scott County, VA on July 24, 1933 to the late Cornellius Cleveland and Ora Belle Baldwin Davidson.
In addition to his parents; his brothers, Clay, Robert Lee, Earl, and Roy Davidson; and sisters, Effie Davidson, Nellie Dingus, and Kathleen Chess preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Casteel and husband, Tim, Hiltons, VA; sons, James (Tom) Davidson and friend, Doris, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Michael Anthony (Pete) Davidson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sisters, Kate Davidson Nelms, Kingsport, TN, Callie McLemore and husband, David, Kingsport, TN, and Mary Ruth Davidson, Kingsport, TN.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, July1, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Greear officiating. Toke Hensley will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2014 at the Kimbler Cemetery, Alley Valley community of Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help defer the funeral costs.
The family would like to thank Peggy Hensley for all of her love and help with Charlie and to his neighbors, the Kimblers for the good food they provided.
