Mr. Ted Ray Darnell, 72, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mr. Darnell was born in Scott County, VA on April 28, 1939, the son of the late Buren and Denna D. Darnell.
He was a member of the Slant United Methodist Church in Slant, VA. He was retired from Quebecor World after 42 years of service in the Folding Department.
In addition to his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Emmitt Darnell and wife, JoAnn preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Doris Hall Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Donnie Darnell and wife, Gaynell, Ft. Blackmore, VA; mother-in-law, Edna Freeman Hall, Brian Center, Weber City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Phillip Dingus.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Stapleton officiating. Tammy Hall Strange will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Phillip Dingus, Gerald Hall, James Lawson, Don Dockery, Billie Hensley, Jon Pierson, Shannon Gillenwater, Michael Hall, and Matt Hall will serve as pallbearers. Don Osborne, James Perry, Benny Beavers, Jimmy King, and Danny Casteel will serve as honorary pallbearers.
