Myrtle Geanette (Lewis) Darnell, 67 passed away at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Wexford House.
She attended Faith Tabernacle Church when she was able. She was a Christian, loved to sing and write poems about Jesus.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mason Matthew Darnell (2010); her parents, Simmie C. and Ruby (Quillen) Lewis; sister, Jerleen Lewis; brother, Robert C. Lewis; nephew, Williams Bruce White; great nephew, Aaron White.
Surviving is her loving husband of 45 years, Fred Darnell; sons, Mark and wife Rachel Darnell, Kingsport, TN, Joseph and wife Dana Darnell, Gate City, VA and Shane Darnell of the home; two precious grandchildren, Bree Darnell and Bryson Darnell; sisters, June White and husband G.W., Nickelsville, VA, Betty Bowen and husband James, Gate City, VA, Lois Dockery and husband Fred, Weber City, VA, and Lisa Lewis Snodgrass and husband Steve, Surgoinsville, TN; brothers, Arrie Lewis, Beech Grove, IN, Ellis Lewis and wife Mitzi, Kingsport, TN, Willie Lewis and wife Lana, Nickelsville, VA and Arvel Lewis and wife Ruth, Gate City, Va; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Hunley officiating. Greg and Becky White will be providing the music.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Darnell Family Cemetery, Gate City, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
