Billy Everett Darnell, 69, Kingsport, TN went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 27, 2013 at his residence.
Billy was born in Scott County, VA on January 7, 1944; son of the late Everett and Margaret Ruth Carter Darnell.
He was retired from the Sullivan County School System.
In addition to his parents, his lifelong companion and love of his life, Osha Hensley; brothers, Donnie Darnell and Jimmy Darnell; great nephew, Daxton Dove; and step mother, Ruby Kindle Darnell preceded him in death.
Billy is survived by his sons, Mitchell Hensley and wife, Julie, Kingsport, TN, Tony Hensley and wife, Lisa, Kingsport, TN; special grandchildren, Shane Hensley and Brittany Guidry, Kingsport, TN, and Bridget Morrell and husband, David, Kingsport, TN; special great grandchildren, Cayden and Ayla Hensley, Kingsport, TN ;sister, Carolyn Henry and husband, Jessie, Kingsport, TN; step sisters, Kathy Bowman, Kingsport, TN and Mattie Gibson and husband, Leon, Kingsport, TN; step brothers, Gary Kindle, Kingsport, TN and Ray Kindle, Kingsport, TN; sister-in-law, Grace Darnell; along with several aunts, nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Charles Kilbourne officiating. Ashley Stapleton and the Hass Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Fields Family Cemetery in the Stanleytown community of Scott County, VA. Shane Hensley, Gary Henry, Aaron Crawford, Earl Hass, Denny Hass, and Darrell Hass will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
