Andrew Eugene Darnell, 27, of Weber City, VA went to be with His Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
Andrew was born on December 2, 1991 to Jimmy and Laura Darnell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Shirley Darnell, uncle, Anthony Lane, and special aunt, Ruby King.
What Andrew was all about; first he loved the Lord and preaching His word. He loved singing his favorite song, “The Bright Side”. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing with his family. He absolutely loved his nieces and nephews and playing with them.
Andrew leaves behind to cherish his memory; his parents Jimmy and Laura Darnell, Weber City, VA; paternal grandparents, Howard and Lorraine Darnell, Dungannon, VA; material grandfather, Rev. William H. Berry, Gate City, VA; maternal grandmother, Ollie Mae Gibson, Hiltons, VA; brothers, Josh Scalf and wife Kim, Weber City, VA, Jonathan Darnell and wife Amanda, Big Stone Gap, VA; a special aunt, Elizabeth Owens; and several several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved Andrew dearly.
The family will receive friends at Gate City Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral will follow in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. William H. Berry, Rev. James Harris, and Rev. Charlie Taylor officiating. Music will be provided by his mother, brother, and grandfather.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Ponderosa Cemetery in Gate City, VA at 1:00 p.m. Jonathan Darnell, Josh Scalf, Teddy Darnell, James Lane, Junior Darnell, Matthew Baker, Michael Darnell, and Daniel Tritt will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his family and friends.Those wishing to attend the funeral service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to all the men of God who came by and visited with Andrew, along with all the friends and loved ones who stopped by to show their love and support. A special thank you also goes to all the caregivers who came out and took care of Andrew during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
