Alice Virginia Darnell, 62, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Alice was born in Scott County, VA on October 19, 1952 to the late Elcaner William and Sad Penole Darnell Frazier.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Ray Darnell (2007); sisters, Elizabeth Frazier, Joella Mae Frazier, Edna Polly Frazier, Molly Frazier, and Julottie Frazier; and brothers, Howard Frazier and James Frazier preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Ray Darnell, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Ruth Louise Frazier, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Emily Frazier Maness, Surgoinsville, TN; and brother, Lawton Riley Frazier, Ft. Blackmore, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Denny Hass and Rev. Cecil Kerns officiating. Working Toward the Promise will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Cox Cemetery, Mabe, VA. Ricky Rhoton, Cody McDavid, Kenny Karr, Jeffrey Burton, Leeroy Darnell, and William Carter will serve as pallbearers. Johnathan Mullins will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral expense.
