Danny Kaye Smith – Duffield, VA

Danny Kaye Smith, 74, Duffield, VA, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at his residence.

Danny was born on July 2, 1948, in Kingsport, TN, to the late Lester Smith and Jean Munsey Smith.

Danny was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was a friend to many.

He was a supervisor for V-DOT for 43 years and attended Thomas Village Baptist Church before his health declined.

In addition to his parents, his brother Phillip Smith preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are the mother of his children, Kathy Snavely, (Dan) Duffield, VA; daughter, Cindy Minton (Billy), Duffield, VA; son, Kevin Smith (Traci), Weber City, VA; sister, Priscilla Smith, Duffield, VA; brother, Mark Smith (Rosa), Dryden, VA; sister-in-law, Rhonda Smith, Statesboro, GA; grandchildren, Molly Castle (Damien), Lauren Hammond (Cody), Makenna McCarty (Tyler), Morgan Kerns, Reagan Kerns; great-grandchildren, Eli Hammond, Tenley Hammond, Teegan Hammond, Bennett McCarty, Juniper Castle and one expectant, Jonah McCarty; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating. Chris Holder will provide the music.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Winegar, Nurse Frances, Bessie Jones of Home Health, his therapist Jason McCulley, and Stephanie Upchurch for their love and care of Danny.
