Dale Stone Gillenwater – Kingsport, TN

Dale Stone Gillenwater, 84, passed away peacefully in his home in Kingsport, TN on January 19, 2025.

He was born and raised in Scott County, VA. Dale spent many years serving as Captain of the Scott County Lifesaving Crew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Mima Gillenwater, daughter, Kim Parrish, grandson, Jonathan Parrish, sisters, Nina Catron (Morris), Olene Starnes (Eddie), and Myrtle Lawson (Bill), and brothers, Fred Gillenwater, Paul Gillenwater, C.E. “Buck” Gillenwater, and Russell Gillenwater, and brother-in-law, Wayne Cater.

Dale is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Gillenwater. Also left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Cynthia Price (Larry), Sherry Baugh (Neal), and Kelli Parrish (Jerry), son-in-law, Thomas Parrish, grandchildren, Preston Price (Jessica), Hannah Duncan (Matt), Ben Baugh (Teryn), Andrew Parrish, and granddaughter-in-law, Samantha Parrish, several great grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Kimbler (William), Alice Carter, and sister-in-law, Hazel Gillenwater, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. 

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Juanita S. Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Parrish officiating.
