Johnnie E. Culbertson born on March 9, 1947 went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2020 at the age of 72.
Born in Sullivan County, TN, he was the son of the late John Paul Culbertson and Edith Pauline (Stapleton) Culbertson.
He lived in Scott County, VA his entire life. He was a retired brick mason and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He loved the Lord and his family with his whole heart. Spending time with his family made him happiest. He loved squirrel hunting with his dog, Otis. His favorite hobbies were deer hunting and helping his son on the farm.
He enjoyed talking with his best friends, R.S. Calhoun, J.B. Stapleton, Terry (Haney) Smith, and Kelcie Grey.
He was a member of the Virginia Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents Johnnie was preceded in death by his lifelong friend Donnie Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jenny; son, Chad and wife Tammy; grandson, Zachary Culbertson who was the love of his life; sisters, Lana Moore, and Judy Benton; brother, Phil; along with several nieces and nephews.
It was Johnnies wishes to be cremated.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
