Jimmy Ray Culbertson, 69, Nickelsville, VA entered into rest, Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Nickelsville from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Jimmy Ray was born in Scott County, VA on March 8, 1950 and was the son of the late Joe and Bess (Williams) Culbertson
In addition to his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Kelly and Mary Hale; and his brother-in-law, Sammy Hale preceded him in death.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was very active in his community. He served as a deacon at Gillenwater’s Chapel Church. He was a member of the Clinch Valley Antique Tractor Club. Jimmy will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, JoAnn Culbertson, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Jennifer Culbertson Collins and fiancé Anthony (Cochy) Laney, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Brittany Collins, Kayla Collins, Kelsey Laney, Timothy Collins, and soon to be his first great-grandchild, Jaxson Carter; brothers-in-laws James Hale, Fred Hale, Ronnie Hale, David Hale, all of Nickelsville, VA and Mark and wife Cindy Hale, Weber City, VA; sisters-in-law, Linda Sue and husband Jessie Clevenger, Yuma, VA, Elizabeth and husband Mikey Finch, Dungannon, VA, Ruby and husband DJ Culbertson, Nickelsville, VA; brother, Jerry Culbertson; and a sister, Linda Dorton.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Greear officiating. The Sluss Family will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Hale Family Cemetery in Twin Springs, VA. Mikey Finch, Walter Manis, Dalton Fanning, Chance Carter, Jerry Meade, Terry Meade, Randy Meade, and Roger Sluss will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers and special friends are Jeff Wilson, Walter and Yason Manis.
