Mr. Arnold Culbertson, 88, Nickelsville, VA passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Culbertson was born in Scott County, VA on February 2, 1923, the son of the late Robert Henry and Emma Moore Culbertson.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Edna Ilene Culbertson and daughters, Imogene Culbertson and Shirley Baker preceded him in death.

Surviving are his sons, Irvin Culbertson, Erie, MI, Marlin Culbertson, Erie, MI, Mark Culbertson and wife, Carolyn, Dungannon, VA, and Bryan Culbertson, Nickelsville, VA; step-children, Rhonda and Randy Lemons, Kingsport, TN, Danny and Kay Chase, Andersonville, TN, Brenda Frost, Kingsport, TN, and Keith and Sherry Chase, Kingsport, TN; several grandchildren and step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Walker Darnell officiating. Jack Owens and Sisters in Christ will provide the music.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Culbertson Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Harold Duty, Randy Lemons, Steve Culbertson, Dwayne Gobble, Stacy Collins, and Michael Burton will serve as pallbearers. Keith Chase, Danny Chase, Bobby Burton, an d Brandon Culbertson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. for the graveside service.
