Anna Ruth Gibson Crooke – Gate City, VA
Anna Ruth Gibson Crooke, 79, Gate City, VA passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
Ruth was a member of Big Cut Baptist Church. She was a strong dedicated Christian woman who loved the Lord and wanted everybody to know that she was Saved. She loved quilting, canning, and working in her flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Tillman and Dona Gibson; daughter, Lorie Ann Crooke; sister, Virginia Faye Atherton, and five brothers, Darrell, Jack, Elic (Tom), T. M., and Glenn Gibson.
Her survivors include her loving husband, Dannie Philip Crooke; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Pastor Jerry Hensley; grandson, Justin and wife, Leslie Hensley; granddaughter; Leann and husband, Jeremy Hurd; two great-grandsons, Neyland Hensley and Liam Hurd. Ruth was looking forward to the soon arrival of a new great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Christian and Maxie Musick; three brothers, Bob and wife, Betty, Fred and wife, Nancy, and Jim Gibson; also, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother J. E. Mauk and Pastor Jerry Hensley officiating. Mike and Dottie Lane will be providing the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Grandsons and The Young Men of Big Cut Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. The Elder Brothers of the Big Cut Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday for those who wish to go in procession to the graveside service.
