Nina Sue Owens Cox, 76, Duffield, VA passed away, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Cox was born in Scott County, VA on February 20, 1938 to the late Charlie and Lula Baldwin Owens.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Bobbie “Bill” Cox, Sr. (2-14-2014); sisters, Ruth Owens, Twin Sister Ina Owens, Mary Lee Dunn, and Irene Dingus; brother, Arlan (PeeWee) Owens; and brothers-in-law, Pat Dingus, Paul Dunn and Eddie Hass preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Schroeder and husband, Owen, Pickens, SC; sons, Ronald Cox and wife, Terry, Duffield, VA, Roger Cox and wife, Kathy, Duffield, VA, and Bobby Cox, Jr., Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Quinten and Crystal Cox, Christy and Steve Summey, Jonathan Cox and Jennifer, Sirena Hale and Chris, Joe Hale, Cody Schroeder and Ashley; great grandchildren, Christian Cox, Katlin Summey, Cheyenne Hale, Jonathan Jones, Madison and Mason Menafee, and Seth Owens; sisters, Laura Kate Lane and husband, R.B., Weber City, VA, Clyde Gillenwater and husband, Carl, Gate City, VA, Juanita Bledsoe, Duffield, VA, Blanche Gillenwater and husband, Jay, Gate City, VA, and Ruby Hass, Weber City, VA; brother, Paul Owens and wife, Ina, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Coy Butler and Rev. David Dillon officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Allen Cemetery, Casteel Hollow, Rye Cove Community, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
