Mrs. Gladys Elizabeth Anderson Cox, 85, Kingsport, TN passed away, Friday, April 27, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Cox was born in Scott County, VA on September 14, 1926 to the late Luther E. and Laura Lou Sandidge Anderson. She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, William "Bill" Cox; granddaughter, Savannah Elizabeth Cox; sister, Mary Rebecca (Reba) Ketron; brothers, Bill Anderson and Tom Anderson preceded her in death.
Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved working outside in her flowers and garden until declining health prevented her from doing so.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Cox, Kingsport, TN; son, Walter Keith Cox and wife, Jennifer, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Mackenzie Cox and Cotey Books, Kingsport, TN, Laura Cox, Kingsport, TN, Ben Harrison and Erica Jones, Kingsport, TN, great grandson, William Hayden Cox, Kingsport, TN; her special caregiver, Terra Fleming, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews; friend of many years, Helen Mueller; and her faithful dog, Molly.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., April 30, 2012 at Vermont United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jarod Wood officiating. Crawford Crossing and Rita Osborne will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Ben Harrison, Cotey Books, Jason Ketron, Cody Ketron, Justin Bowling, Joe Cox, and Carl Wayne Overbay will serve as pallbearers. Vermont Prime Timers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to the Doctors and ICU staff at Indian Path Medical Center; Eleanor and Brook of Amedysis Home Hospice; and Gentiva Home Health.
