Gate City, VA — Fostina Ruth Addington Cornett, 262 Cedar Avenue, entered into rest on Sunday, December 27th, with family by her side, at Indian Path Medical Center.
She was born on June 15, 1931 in St. Charles, VA, eldest of five children born to Wilford Cromwell and Kila Collins Addington.
She spent most of her life in Gate City. She graduated from Shoemaker High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and kept children in her home for several years. Her life's passions included family, friends, cooking, and celebrating life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances Ann Addington.
Survivors include: her husband of 61 years, Harold Henson Cornett; two daughters: Janet Davidson and husband Ron, Jacksonville, FL; Jolene Lambert and husband Barry, Jonesville, VA; two sons: Harold Cornett, Jr. and wife Linda, Kingsport, TN; David Cornett and wife Donna, Big Stone Gap, VA; four grandchildren: Josh Davidson and wife Day, Wichita, KS; Michael Davidson and wife Amy, Wichita, KS; Brianne Falin and husband, Clayton, Kingsport, TN; Amanda Lambert, Jonesville, VA; two great-grandchildren: Austin Connell, Wichita KS; Ethan Falin, Kingsport, TN. three siblings: Wanda Johnson, Kingsport, TN; Jim Addington, Manassas, VA; Tom Addington, Powell, TN. and a host of special nieces and nephews. In addition to family she is survived by several extended family members that grew up at Tina's House.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with M.A. Lunsford. Eulogy will be given by son, Harold Cornett, Jr., and nephew, Greg Cornett will provide special music.
Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, TN.
Grandsons, nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
