Mr. Ellis Fred "Big Mott" Cordle, 72, Nickelsville, VA went to Heaven to be with the Lord, Monday, September 3, 2007 at his residence.
Born in Scott County, VA on February 26, 1935, he was a son of the late Esther Ramsey Page. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his Aunt Maudie Lucas (that raised him), sisters, Helen Watson and Beaulah Dockery and a brother, Archie Ramsey.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Irene Flanary Cordle, Nickelsville, VA, daughters, Karen Darlene Gullett and husband, Jason, Nickelsville, VA and Brenda Charlene Duty and husband, Greg, Nickelsville, VA, sons, Timothy Fred Cordle and wife, Deanna, Nickelsville, VA, Randy Ellis Cordle and wife, Debra, Nickelsville, VA, Michael Wayne Cordle and wife, Sherry, Russell County, VA and Freddie Lee Cordle and wife, Kelly, Kingsport, TN, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, sisters, Georgia Ramsey and husband, Jim, OH, Jean Ramsey, CA, Eulah Brickey, Kingsport, TN and Fay Ramsey, OH, brothers, Melvin Cordle and wife, Kathleen, Nickelsville, VA, Johnny Ramsey and wife, Linda, Big Rock, VA and Tommy Ramsey and wife, Linda, OH, a very special brother-in-law, Hobart Flanary, Jr., Nickelsville, VA and special friends, Susie and Dewayne Mullins, Sandy Ridge, VA along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral with Rev. Lelbert Thornberg officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Cordle Family Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.
