Ruby Louise Compton – Weber City, VA
Our precious Ruby Louise Compton, 92, Weber City, VA graduated from this life to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, September 07, 2016.
Ruby was born in Scott County, VA on July 28, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Garland and Blanche (Hensley) Weatherly.
She was an LPN with Holston Valley Hospital with 21 years of service upon her retirement. She loved quilting, canning, and growing flowers.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Ezra Clyde “Bill” Compton; daughter, Judy Derting; grandson, Steven Alan Compton; brothers, Ray, J.C., Jack, and Eugene Weatherly; sisters, Linda Weatherly and June Dalton; half brother, Harold Weatherly special aunts, Jessie Baker and Delphine Hensley; and her uncle, Howard Hensley preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Gerald C. Compton and wife, Barbara; sister, Darlyn Weatherly; grandchildren, Deanne (Tracy) France, Amber (David) Goode, Brenna (Tom) Rafalowski, Jonathan (Lori) Compton, Jason (Jamie) Compton, and David (Amber) Compton; son-in-law, Lynn Derting and wife, Linda; great grandchildren, Kayli, Jonathan, Brittney, Megan, Katie, Rachel, Drew, Drake, Hagen, Hunter, Haley, Tucker, Drew, and Zach; her great grandson, Greyson Lee Compton, who is due in October, and her great great grandchild, Naomi Alice Raymond, whom, she never got to meet; special toddler who brought so much joy and laughter to her life, Paisley Rose Cantrell, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son, Gerald and Barbara Compton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Richard Dice officiating. Her son will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the Gate City Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
