Lucky Gene Compton, 75, went to be with Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on November 26, 1933 to the late Garland and Zola Crisp Compton. He was born in Dungannon, VA and lived in Michigan for several years.

After retiring from General Motors, he moved to Bristol, VA. He was an avid coon hunter and had coon hunting friends from Michigan to Florida. Mr. Compton attended Valley View Freewill Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA.

He was preceded in death by Gladys Sexton, Shirley McClellan, Sevier Compton, Cecil Compton, Russell Compton, John Compton and David Compton. Mr.

Compton is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Compton, Bristol, VA; three daughters, Cathy Keith, WV, Donna Gail Altman, Kingsport, TN, Tracey Bryan and husband, Daniel Bryan, Bristol, TN; three sons, Billy Compton and wife, Karen, MI, Robert Compton, MI, Paul Compton, Bristol, VA; six grandchildren, Jesse Altman, Crystal Blevins, Nichole Horner, Justin Altman, Chelsea Compton and Kaitlyn Bridgeman; three step grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one brother, Farris Compton, Kingsport, TN; three sisters, Nell Castle, Kingsport, TN, Bell Morelock, Fall Branch, TN, Daisy Green, GA; special coon hunting friends, Eddie Frith, Bill Grant, Dual Rasnake, Phillip Foster, Wayne Fields and Bob McCracken; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Greg Dingus officiating. Music will be provided by Linda Steffey and Righteous Cry.

Graveside services will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Compton Cemetery, Dungannon Community conducted by Howard Edwards. Family and friends will meet 11 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Compton, Billy Compton, Raymond Berry, Mark Sikora, Jesse Altman and Justin Altman. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Mann III, Lisa Sproles and all of the nurses for their compassion and wonderful care of our loved one.
