Daisy N. Compton, 56, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a courageous fifteen year battle with cancer.
Daisy was born in Sullivan County, TN on August 13, 1959. She was the daughter of Patsy Louise Finch Compton and the late Wiley Russell Compton, Sr.
In addition to her father, her husband, George Ison and brother, Wiley Russell Compton, Jr., preceded her in death.
Daisy was a graduate of Twin Springs High School, Virginia Tech, and the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She was licensed to practice law on May 2, 1986 and opened her law office in Gate City, VA where she practiced for close to thirty years.
She followed the law and practiced in all courts until her final illness prevented her from doing so.
She is survived by her mother, Patsy Louise Finch Compton, Dungannon, VA; sisters, Zola Ann Baker, Gate City, VA, Emogene Bright and husband, Lanny, Hiltons, VA and Virginia Smith, Kingsport, TN; brother, Roger Earl Compton and wife, Tiffani, Castlewood, VA; her special niece who was like her daughter, Morgan-Ann Madison Baker, Gate City, VA; along with several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Compton Family Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
