Charles Ruby Compton, 87, Kingsport, TN passed away, Monday, December 24, 2012 at the Asbury Center, Johnson City, TN.
Mrs. Compton was born in Scott County, VA on May 26, 1925 to Della Sweeney.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Compton; daughter, Mary Nell Compton; sister, Geneva Musick; brothers, Bill Gibson, Vernon Gibson and Robert Gibson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Kitty Hendrix and husband, Richard, Johnson City, TN and Betty Compton, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Jerry L. Wolfe, Jr., Jason Wolfe, Laura Humphrey and husband, Steve, Heather Hendrix, Sara Hendrix Chesman and husband, Brian; great grandchildren, Garrett Humphrey, Beatrix Chesman, and Caroline Humphrey; sister Peggy Walker and husband, Miles, Blackstone, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Todd Wolfe officiating. The family will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Grandchildren and other family members will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are to be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Mrs. Compton's name.
