He was born February 5, 1956 in Ohio to the late Glynn Compton and Lois Virginia Cress Dingus.
Survivors include his sisters, Jami Wanda Hatchell and husband, Buddy, Myrtle Beach, SC, Carol Honeycutt, Nickelsville, VA, Kathy Graham and husband, Timothy, Randleman, NC, Sherry Steffey and husband, Emmitt, Trinity, NC, and Jeanie Powers, Dungannon, VA; brothers, Jiles Compton, Nickelsville, VA, Johnny Dingus and wife, Susan, Mt. Carmel, TN; 9 nieces and 7 nephews, 10 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister of Jeanie Powers.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. in Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Cress officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Give a Kid a Book by calling the local RADA office of Scott County, 276-386-6441.
