Vincent Collins – Nickelsville, VA. Vincent Collins, 65, Big Mocassin Area of Nickelsville, VA., was called home by his savior Jesus Christ on January 1, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vincent was born on March 21, 1944 to the late Jacob and Beatrice Collins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Collins and his brothers, Kyle and Lee Collins, and one sister, Bridgel Collins.
Vincent loved to help everyone; he could often be found working on neighbor's lawnmowers or weed eaters. He had a desire to help others. He loved planting and working in his garden. You could always expect to find a mess of vegetables on your porch. Vincent was a hard worker. No matter how bad his health was he always kept on trying. He took pride in being a good father, companion to Joyce, papaw to his grand babies, and a good friend and neighbor.
Vincent leaves behind one daughter, Barbara Ann Collins, Dungannon, VA. Two sons, Robert Eddie Collins, Dungannon, VA. and Stephen Glen Collins, Virginia Beach, VA. Companion of 15 years, Eva Joyce Dean and daughter, Brenda Sue Bush, Big Mocassin, VA. Three granddaughters, Jeanna "Hope" Finch and Fiancé, Coty Lawson, Dungannon, VA. Stephanie "Tater" Finch, Dungannon, VA. and Jessica Long, Lebanon, VA. Two grandsons, Robert Charles Collins, Lebanon, VA. and Shane Vincent Collins, Virginia Beach, VA. One great-granddaughter, Rhyleigh K. Lawson, Dungannon, VA. and one great-grandson, Dillion Long, Lebanon, VA.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Gate City Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of Barbara Collins in Dungannon. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lynn Puckett officiating. Music will be provided by friends.
In honoring Mr. Collins wishes, the body will be cremated.
The family wishes to express their greatest thanks and deepest respect to Dr. Gary Michael, Dr. Todd Cassell, Sabrinia Mitchell FNP, Dr. Nazia Shehzad and Dr. Moriase and all staff at Clinch River Health Services and to Vincent's neighbors; Teresa Ford, Martin and wife Sherry Hilton and to all who loved Vincent and helped to make his life better.
