Ruth Jeanette Quillin Collins, 90, Gate City, VA passed away, Saturday, August 6, 2016 surrounded by family.
Ruth was born in Scott County, VA on July 26, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Cora Gillenwater Quillin. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Gate City, VA where she taught toddler Sunday school for many years. She worked for Tennessee Eastman for more than 21 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She loved photography, gardening and scrapbooking.
You could tell what was important in her life from all the pictures of her grandkids, great grandkids, family and her faith.
In addition to her parents, her sisters, Vesta Egan, Edna Greear, Dovie Clark, Myrtle Brickey, Polly Carter, Patricia Dingus, and Clyde Elizabeth Kerns; brothers, Eston, Joseph, and J. B. Quillin preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clyde Walter Collins, Gate City; sons, Jimmy and wife Maggie Collins, and David and wife Sandra Collins, both of Gate City; sisters, Leona Hill, Gate City, VA and Julia and husband Lowell Osborne, Nickelsville, VA; brother, R. F. Quillin, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Meghan (Collins) McConnell and husband Michael, Amy Collins, Carrie (Collins) Stallard and husband Michael, and Michael Collins; great grandchildren, Blake, Anna and Haley McConnell; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2016, at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Steve Collins and Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Connie, Cassie, Tammy, Brenda and Almeda for taking such good care of Mom.
