Jerry Glenn Collins, 50, Nickelsville, VA passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at his residence.
Jerry was born in Sullivan County, TN on January 16, 1962 to the late Howard Lee and Freida Louise Collins.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Patsy Louise Collins and brothers, Terry Lee Collins and Timmy Lynn Collins preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Collins, Kingsport, TN; daughter, Glenna Collins, Gate City, V; sons, Jerry Glenn "Bud" Collins, Gate City, VA, Charlie Collins, Gate City, VA, and Dakota Collins, Kingsport, TN; grandkids, Morgan Light, Trevor Hagey, and Jackson Collins, all of Gate City, VA; brothers and sister-in-law, Larry Collins, Gate City, VA and Bobby Collins and wife, Gail, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Gail Collins. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Taylor officiating. Lisa McCracken will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Point Truth Cemetery in the Long Hollow community of Nickelsville, VA. Jason Collins, Justin Collins, Josh Collins, Jay Swecker, Brad Tate, Larry Collins, Bobby Collins, and Travis Collins will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service.
