Martha June Coates, 78, born as an angel June 2, 1932, and left her home as an angel June 2, 2010.
Born in Wise County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Bartley and the late Ethel Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Rice, Edith Carter, Polly Begley, Katherine Waters, Victoria Myers, and Louise Morrison.
She was of the Baptist Faith and retired from K-Mart Stores after 18 years service.
Mrs. Coates is survived by her daughter, Cathy Shelton, Weber City, VA; sons and daughters-n-law, Terry and Teresa Blakely, Ricky Blakely, Kingsport, TN, and Rocky and Christy Blakely, Stanley Valley, VA; grandchildren, Josh, Chastity, Chad, Santana, Jessica, Gage, and Chance Blakely, Aubrey McCarty, and husband, Jason, Weston Shelton, and wife, Heather, Krista Shelton, and Zac Shelton; great grandchildren, Bailee Bentley, Emma Shelton, William McCarty, and Chloe Shelton; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris (Tootsie) Whiten, and husband, Jim, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews, and friends from K-Mart.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and anytime as the residence of her grandson, Weston Shelton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Johnny Kendrick officiating. Trey Dishner and Heather Shelton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
