Alvin M. Clark, Jr., 70, departed this life for his journey to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Scott County, VA, he was the son of the late A.M. and Clarice Elliott Clark, Sr.
Alvin was a former deputy with the Scott County Sheriff's Department, a Police Officer with both the Town of Gate City, VA and Weber City, VA
He had a great love for hunting and for horses.
He was a Mason and a member of Gate City Catlett Lodge #35 AM & FM and a member of the Virginia Army National Guerd.
In addition to his parents, his brother-in-law, James "Bimbo" Quillen preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Linda Quillen Clark, Gate City, VA.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jeff Quillen and wife, Suzanne and their daughter, Sara of Kingsport, TN who loved him dearly; sisters-in-law, Marilynn Cole, Seymour, TN and Lois Keebler and husband, Gale, Ft. Blackmore, VA; nephew, Kevin Estep and wife, Erica, Seymour, TN; niece, Marlene Castle, Yuma, VA; great nephews, Ethan and Luke, Seymour, TN, who thought of hin as their Papaw and loved him dearly; his great niece, Heather Castle and her daughter, Emma, Piney Flats, TN; along with special friends, Bobby and Darlene Berry, James and Betty White, and Bob and Debbie Givens, all of whom he thought as family.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. by members of the Gate City Catlett Lodge #35 AM and FM. Funeral services will follow in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Judy McConnell will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Jeff Quillen, Kevin Estep, Connie Elliott, Bobby Berry, Bob Givens, Rick Elliott, Kevin Lawson, and Jonathan Walters will serve as pallbearers. James White, Gale Keebler, and Don Elliott will serve as honorary pallbearers.
