Joe was born in Scott County, VA on July 26, 1936. He was the son of the late Robert Emmett and Maxie Mae (Pierson) Christian. Joe worked for many years as a minister in MI, VA, and FL.
In addition to his parents, his daughter, Rachel Marie Leaders; sister, Clarabelle Turner and brother, Robert D. Christian preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Ann Christian, Gate City, VA; daughter, Ann Lane and husband, Steve. Duffield, VA; son, Joe Christian, and wife, Patti, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Heather Ann Upton, David Christian, Angela Lane, and Matthew Leaders; great grandchild, Rachel Miller; sisters, Mary Holland and husband, Clyde, Pikeville, TN, Judy McNear and husband, Sonny, Birds Creek, WV, and Priscilla Jane McCalpin and husband, Bob, Tuscumbia, AL; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rinnie Evans officiating.
Burial will follow the service at the Christian Family Cemetery, Manville, VA. Steve Lane, Ronnie Tipton, David Richards, Brian Lane, David Christian, and Steve Crabtree will serve as pallbearers.
