James Samuel "Jim" Castle

October 31, 1944 — June 12, 2015

James Samuel Castle – Kingsport, TN
James Castle, 70, Kingsport, TN joined his parents, Arthur Brown and Lois Elizabeth Castle in Heaven on June 12, 2015. His death was unexpected. He fought a brave fight, but in the end, it was his time.
Jim was born on Little Duck Ridge in Nickelsville, VA on October 31, 1944.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lanie Balingan Castle, Kingsport, TN; his daughter, Pam Coates and husband, Steve; his spoiled little dog, Sparkie; two grandchildren that he loved very much, Specialist Brandon Sorah US Army and Bethany Sorah; sister, Peggy Harris and husband, Ken; one nephew, Steven Brickey and wife, Tina, and their daughter, Dani; most of all his special great uncle, J.B. Stapleton; an extended family of cousins; and special friends, Denny and Ronilla Sorah.
“Dukie” was what his sister named him when she was just a little girl, and it stuck with him all through his life.
In 1963 Jim started work at The Kingsport Press, working in the Case-In Department. He left the Press in 1988 and began working his favorite job, as a truck driver for Schneider Trucking.
Jim and Lanie married in 2005 and they traveled the country for several years in that tractor. He loved taking Lanie to different cities and showing her all that he could.
He received an award for Outstanding Achievement as a Professional Driver with over 2 million miles of safe driving.
In their spare time Jim and Lanie enjoyed more traveling in their motor home or on his Harley. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Dollywood. Jim and Brandon spent many days riding motorcycles together.
Upon the illness of his mother, Lois, Jim left the road to help Peggy with their parents and they were together when she passed in 2008, with their Dad passing two months later.
Jim did not take retirement well. He found Darrell Gillespie Trucking and began working more for fun than anything else.
