Carolyn Kathleen Castle, 56, Dungannon, VA passed away, Thursday, June 16, 2011 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Castle was born in Scott County, VA on May 26, 1955, a daughter of the late Lloyd "Blondie" Gillenwater and Susie Kathleen Gibson Gillenwater.
Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a member of the Dungannon Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to her father, Lloyd "Blondie" Gillenwater, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kelly Edward Gillenwater and Glenn Ray Gillenwater.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee Castle, Dungannon, VA; daughters, Sissy Castle and boyfriend, Mark Thompson, Rye Cove, VA and Nicole Fleenor and husband, Robert, Dungannon, VA; sons, Stacy Castle and wife, Heather, Nickelsville, VA and David Castle, Dungannon, VA; mother, Susie Kathleen Gillenwater; Dungannon, VA twelve grandchildren; brothers, Lewis Gillenwater, Dungannon, VA, John Wayne Gillenwater, Dungannon, VA Gary Gillenwater and wife, Norma, Kingsport, TN, and Donnie Gillenwater, Dungannon, VA; a special sister-in-law, Martha Garrett, Dungannon, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmy Gibson and Danny Darnell officiating. Danny Darnell and Jimmy Gibson will provide the music along with special songs dedicated by her children.
Graveside services will be conducted at11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens. Scottie Hall, Junior Garrett, Clifford Gillenwater, Peanut Ramsey, Matthew Pierson, Little John Castle, Gale Gibson, and George Gibson will serve as pallbearers. Uncle John Castle, Oneil Garrett, and Dr. Todd Cassell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
