Terry Carter, 61, Calhoun, GA, passed away, Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
Terry was born in Scott County, VA on September 10, 1952 to William (Bill) Harmon and Jane Herron Carter.
He was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, and has been a resident of Gordon County for the past 20 years. He was an avid golfer and Alumnus of the Lincoln Memorial University. Terry was an enthusiast of the University of Tennessee football program, and held season tickets for many years. Mr. Carter was formerly employed by Beaulieu as Vice President of Purchasing.
Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Sherre Lynn Morrow.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Davis Carter, Calhoun, GA; parents, Bill and Jane Carter, Gate City, VA; step-son, Nick Clark and wife, Rhona, Chattanooga, TN; brother, Mickey Carter and wife, Barbara, Rock Hill, SC; along with a niece, Anna Carter and nephews, Will Carter and nephew Jason Morrow.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Joe Barber. Don Frazier, Jack Newland, Will Carter, Tommy Herron and John Carter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elks Lodge for their Aidemore Children’s Center and Gate City United Methodist Church.
