Patsy Sue Carter – Gate City, VA
Patsy Carter, 70 of Gate City, VA (Manville Community) went home to be with her Lord and loved ones (July 24, 2010) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Patsy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was of the Baptist faith.
Patsy was born on May 7, 1940 in Sullivan County, TN, to the late Lorn-lee Ervin and Mae Orpha Music Ervin.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her grandson, Brad Carter and brother, Harry Ervin.
Surviving is her loving husband, Jack Carter of 56 years. Daughter, Dana Campbell and fiancé, Bill Delfosse of Gate City, VA; a son, Roger Carter and fiancée, Angela, Gate City, VA, granddaughter, Jackie Collins and husband, Charlie, Gate City, VA., Two special great grandsons, Kaleb and Taylor Saez, Gate City, VA, step grandson, Mathew East, Gate City, VA., sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Wrightly Rhoton, Gate City, VA, three aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. and anytime at the residence. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Eugene Sexton and Rev. Bill Tignor officiating. Elaine and Haley Darnell will provide the music.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 26, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ervin Family Cemetery, in the Manville Community of Scott County, VA. Steve Ervin, Todd Ervin, Josh Ervin, Michael Ervin, Jeff Ervin and Greg Ware will serve as pallbearers. Rick Neeley and Dennis Neeley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m.to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to give special thanks to Patsy's sisters and brothers in law for their help and caring, and to Dr. Todd Castle, and the Mountain Region Home Health Care nurses for their loving care of Patsy during her sickness.
