Mrs. Norma Mae Carter, 63, Nickelsville, VA went home to be with Jesus, Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Eugene Bishop and James Aaron Smith, her mother, Dorothy Mae Phillips and sister, Thelma Faye Frazier.
She is survived by her husband, Buford Carter, Nickelsville, VA; father, Curtis Phillips, Wise, VA; son, Randy Bishop, Kingsport, TN; daughters, Melissa Jones and husband, Jerry, Kingsport, TN, Marsha Bishop and fiancé, Stacy Gibson, Kingsport, TN, and Leslie Smith, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Randy Bishop, Jr., Tra Jones, Keena Jones, Seth Jones, Cody Gibson, Dylan Gibson, Nevaeh Malone, and Kaelyn Smith; brother, Lonnie Phillips and wife, Donna, Norton, VA; sisters, Louise Hammond, Kingsport, TN, Shirley Calhoun and husband, David , Castlewood, VA, Ruth Woods and husband, Scott, Dante, VA, Kay Woods and husband, Jerry, Castlewood, VA, Edna Baker and husband, Carl Coeburn, VA, and Lois Meade and husband, Danny, St. Paul, VA; step daughter, Brenda Hobbs and husband, Mike, Mendota, VA; two step grandsons, Rick and Stan Begley, Mendota, VA; special great niece, Sharon Jackson, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Monroe Greeley, and Rev. Willie Neeley officiating. Eddie Roberts will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens, Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
