Nancy V. Carter, 81, Serene Hill Drive, Gate City, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles H. Carter Sr., her son, Charles H. Carter Jr. (Chuck), her mother, Susie Joyner, and one brother, Lee Roy Joyner.
Nancy was a homemaker and worked at Hob-Nob Drive-In for many years.
She is survived by one sister, Faye Gilliam of Gate City, VA; one brother, Ed Joyner of Gate City, VA; two daughters, Sharon Phillips and husband Keith of Kingsport, TN, Donna Wright and husband Elmer of Edison, TN; six grandchildren, Joshua Williams and wife Savannah of Gate City, Lukas Presley of Kingsport, Daniel Presley and Julie Presley of Kingsport, Jeniffer Carr and husband Cyrus of Kingsport, and Richard Wright of Edison; four great grandchildren, Cayne Williams, Cameron Dolan, Jessica Ramey, and Chloe Carr; a special young lady, Kayla Parsons; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Luther Presley and Rev. Wayne Baker officiating. Rejoicing Voices will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Michael Gilliam, Larry Gilliam, Rick Joyner, Mark Joyner, Robby Joyner, and Butch Joyner will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
