Kyle Issac Carter, Jr. (January 13, 1956-November 20, 2016)
Kyle Issac Carter, Jr. went to his heavenly home on Sunday after a hard fought battle with cancer. Junior was the son of the late Kyle and Polly Quillen Carter.
Junior grew up and made his home in the Stanleytown community of Scott County. He graduated from Rye Cove High School, class of 1974. Soon after graduation he began working at Tennessee Eastman Company (now Eastman Chemical Company) in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was working in the research department when he became ill with cancer.
Junior was a kind, gentle, and caring Christian man who was loved by all who knew him. He was faithful to his Lord. He was a member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Purchase Ridge Church in Duffield, Virginia for many years. Those who were members of the church and his Sunday school class were blessed to listen to his teachings of God’s Word.
Left to cherish his memory is loving and devoted wife, Jenny Sanders Carter; daughter Kayla Carter; sisters, Teresa Carter Enix and husband, Phillip, Haymarket VA and Ernestine Carter Lester and husband, Roy, Kingsport, Tennessee; niece, Thea LaPorte and husband, Michael; nephew, Josh Lester and wife, Melanie, Duffield, Virginia; great nieces and nephew, Devon LaPorte and husband Michael, Carter Lester and Mattie Lester; aunts, uncles, several cousins and many, many friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 23 from 11:00 a.m -1:00 p.m., at Gate City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p. m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Rhoton, Rev. Jackie Frazier and honorary minister, Roy Lee Lester officiating. The Way of the Cross will provide the music.
The graveside services will be conducted after services on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Hall Cemetery in Stanleytown of Duffield, VA. Carter Lester, Joshua Lester, Gary Wallen, Kenneth Barnette, Myron Fields, Willie Chapman, Buford Quillen and David Jackson will serve as pallbearers. Richard Wallen, Chuck Rhoton, Tony Duncan, Sawyer Barnette and Bruce Rhoton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
