Kathy Sue Carter, 50, entered into rest Monday, January 19, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Scott County, VA April 19, 1958 to the late Troy Darnell and Gladys Tempie Darnell. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Faye and Sandra Kay Darnell; one brother, Jimmy Ray Darnell.
She was a loving mother, sister and friend to all who knew her.
Survivors include three sons, Adam Michael Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Timothy Light and wife, Ethel, Gate City, VA, and Anthony Light, Gate City, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Joanna and Carl Wayne Harris, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Daniel W. Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA; granddaughters, Haley Morgan Light and Ashleigh Brook Light; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Denny Hass and Evangelist Kenneth Neeley. Music will be provided by Working Toward The Promise Singers.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at Hill Station Cemetery, Hill Station Community. The family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
