Hubert Wayne Carter, 68, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN
Wayne was born in Scott County, VA on May 1, 1947. He was the son of the late Charlie and Nina Barnette Carter.
He retired from Eastman Kodak after 27 years of service.
In addition to his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Milton and Mima Stallard Gillenwater; son, Anthony Dale Carter; sisters, Marcelene Sloan, Betty Roberts and brother, David Carter preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Alice Gillenwater Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA; son, Michael Wayne and Wendy Carter, Gate City, VA; sisters, Brenda and Larry Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN, Paulette Rains, Gate City, VA, Nell Bowen, Duffield, VA, Thelma Rhoton, Gate City, VA; brother, James Carter, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Anthony and Autumn Carter, Weber City, VA, Holly Carter, Gate City, VA; great grandchildren, Macie and McKinley Carter; along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Stallard Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard with Rev Olen Sloan, Brother Wayne Stallard and Rev. Gene Stallard officiating. The Quillen Family will provide the music. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
