Hazel Carter, 86, Ft. Blackmore, VA entered into rest, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Mrs. Carter was born in Scott County, VA on June 20, 1926 to the late Mitchel and Ellen Dingus Babb. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker for sixty plus years.
In addition to her parents, her husband Roy Carter; sister, Mertle, Feebie, Lula, Gracie, and Mary; brothers, Roy and George; and a special granddaughter, Reba Darnell preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Billy Carter and wife, Georgia, Gate City, VA, Jimmy Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Bessie Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Jennifer Taylor and husband, Jerry, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Maude Gaynell Darnell and husband, Donnie, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Robert Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Donna Giles, Jennie Rhoton, Scott Taylor, and Ronnie Darnell; three great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at Edwards Cemetery, Hill Station, VA with Rev. Allen Hensley officiating. Patsy Hensley will provide the music. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall and Wellmont Lonesome Pine Medical Center, Big Stone Gap, VA for their care of Mrs. Carter.
