Guy Edgar Carter – Duffield, VA
Guy Edgar Carter, 83, Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, February 29, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.
Mr. Carter was born in Scott County, VA to the late Johnny and Sarah Rhoton Carter, Sr.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Kathleen Ramey Carter (2012); twin brother, Gus Edward Carter and sister, Beulah Faye Carter preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Leola Witt, Duffield, VA; granddaughter, Natasha Witt Croomer; 2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter; brothers, Bruce Carter and wife, Nancy, Duffield, VA, Ted Carter and wife, Linda, Kingsport, TN; two precious sisters who stood by his side, Peggy Roach and husband, Harold, Duffield, VA and Hallie Kern and husband, Vernon, Duffield, VA; sister-in-law, Wanda Carter, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Denny Hass officiating. The Hass Family singers will provide the music.
A Military graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Cox Cemetery, Mabe Community of Scott County, VA. Services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Family and fiends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
